About Fergana Medical Institute

The institute's history is longer than its current name. Medicine has been taught on this base since 28 May 1992, first as a medical centre under Fergana State University, then as the Fergana branch of the Second Tashkent State Medical Institute from 1998, then as Tashkent Medical Academy's Fergana branch from 2005. Presidential Resolution PQ-4911 of 3 December 2020 made it an independent state institute — Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health — and WDOMS records the present institute teaching from 2020, with the whole lineage preserved in its alternate names (FAIMER ID F0006296).

The numbers it publishes are unusually complete for Uzbekistan. The contract fee is on its own site — $3,500 a year for foreign students in 2025–26, identical across all eight bachelor directions — and so is the dormitory register: two dormitories, 500 places, foreign residents listed by nationality. The founding decree names the Fergana regional infectious diseases hospital as the institute's clinical base. Its homepage counters show 275 faculty, 6,238 students and 1,089 graduates as displayed in August 2026. ECAQA, the Kazakhstan-based accreditation agency that WFME recognises, accredited the General Medicine programme for 5 years on 7 December 2023 — its published review covered the Uzbek/Russian-medium programme, so ask us for the current documentation on the English track before you rely on it.

The FMGE record is one data point, and a good one: 63 of 123 candidates passed in the December 2025 session — 51.22%, the best rate in that report among the Uzbek universities we track. Those graduates trained under the institute's branch-era lineage, which is exactly why the record exists at all for an institute made independent in 2020. Per WDOMS, graduates from 2025 onward are eligible to apply for ECFMG Certification and the school meets the Intealth Recognized Accreditation Policy — with one honest caveat we'd rather tell you than hide: a separate 5-year English MBBS programme that began in 2020 was discontinued in 2022, closed before anyone graduated, and its students are not ECFMG-eligible.

Fergana Medical Institute is one of the two institutes on our Uzbekistan roster — see the full MBBS in Uzbekistan guide for the country-level picture, including why the other well-known names are not on this roster.

Axmad Street 57 and No. 2 at Ozodlik Street 10 — housing both Uzbek and foreign students, with hot water, heating and Wi-Fi described on its own page. It even publishes its foreign residents by nationality: 70 from Pakistan, 28 from Kyrgyzstan, 26 from India at the last count. No dormitory price is published — ask us for the current figure.
