David Tvildiani Medical University began in 1989 as AIETI Medical School — the first non-governmental medical school in Georgia, by the university's own history — and took its current name in 2011 in honour of its founder. WDOMS lists it as "David Tvildiani Medical University AIETI Medical School" (FAIMER ID F0001012), with instruction recorded from 1991. The English-language MD programme runs 6 years at 60 ECTS a year across two 20-week semesters, and NCEQE, Georgia's quality-enhancement centre, most recently accredited it on 29 June 2021.
